The Whistling Tynesider
A special train from Crewe to Newcastle and York, hauled by this splendid preserved Class 40 locomotive, making its second run on the main line since restoration. We stopped off in York long enough for a quick look at the Minster.

The Wizard Express
Another special train. This time four Class 37 locos took us from Manchester to a new freight terminal at Kirkby Industrial Estate, the first and probably the last passenger train to run on the branch. Why "Wizard Express"? Because the terminal belongs to the Potter Group! The yellow shunter is one of theirs.
